Nowadays Marek Krajewski is a well known writer in Poland. He wrote several criminal books about the historical German Breslau in the first half of last century.
His leading character, Eberhard Mock, is a criminal detective in Breslau and has to solve some tricky cases that also includes underground visits and dodgy mafia persons.
It is very nice to read, especially if you know the places and streets he is visting and how they look today. But even without geographical knowledge of Breslau it is nice amusement.
And by the way: A must lecture for all vistors to read before visiting us in Wroclaw! ;)

Lieber Andreas, I beg to point out that Herr Eberhard Mock is not a criminal but a criminal detective in Breslau (Kriminalrat?). I have just finished reading this novel, which I agree with you can certainly be recommended to anyone interested in Breslau/Wroclaw, a city I had the pleasure of visiting in January 2008. What fascinates me is how this Polish author appropriates the German past of his city, once vehemently denied by his compatriots. A welcome detente. Enjoy your stay!

OK. Peter, you are right. Of course Eberhard is a character from "the other side", the good one.
Thanks for the hint - already corrected ;)
Greets to Down Under.
